I am so excited to share this look and palette - first impression: love it. Monday was a day full of shopping and errands. Coffee shop, Chicago Costume Company (my favorite place for costume inspirations and supplies), and H&M. Feeling disappointed with the H&M selection this visit, I walked back to my car in the parking garage when I passed ULTA. Um...I'm just going to go in, I thought. Then, as soon as I walked in, I remembered that there was a new Vice palette from Urban Decay. Looked on the UD display, none. Asked the lovely ULTA consultant, and she said there was ONE left on the front table! I felt it was destiny that I treat myself, so the palette came home with me.
First of all, the colors are gorgeous. Rich warm and cool neutrals, as well vibrant jewel tones for fall and holiday in shades of blue, violet, raspberry, and - the one shade that stood out immediately - DRAGON.
The packaging is beautiful. It's slimmer than the previous palettes, with a high quality mirror, eyeshadow brush, and carrying/ brush bag! Urban Decay describes the palette as 20 velvety Never-before-seen shades - ranging from a soft black and stunning burgundy to a smoky red-black. My early favorites: dragon (a bright semi-shimmer emerald), sonic (a deep orangey Crimson), and heroine (a ultra rich navy blue). As I've always experienced with Urban Decay eye colors, they fluff up a lot of product when you dip in your brush to pick up color - and there tends to be a bit more fallout than I've experienced with other brands. Luckily, they sweep off the face easy enough. Overall, the colors are fun enough to be worth the mess.
